Sacramento, CA
The Ice Blocks building predecessor, the Crystal Ice and Storage facility were destroyed by fire in 2016. With developer Heller Pacific in conjunction with the city of Sacramento, they proposed to revitalize the area by converting the old structures into a mixed-use, transit-oriented project consisting of trendy high-end multi-family residential apartments, restaurants and boutiques, as well as open and inspiring collaborative office spaces.
LP Consulting Engineers was contracted to provide Sustainability Services (Energy modeling, Building Systems optimization), Electrical and Lighting, Mechanical & Plumbing as well as Fire Sprinkler (design, analysis, and construction supervision). One of the innovative aspects of the project was incorporating the MEP systems as a visual element vs. hiding it.
